Many archaeologists tried to solve the mystery of spectacular constructions made by humans thousands of years ago. However, they couldn’t reveal the secret until now. Nevertheless, what they’ve discovered so far, could leave us bemused for years.
Giza Plateau is filled with fascinating engineering structures, which you have to visit Giza pyramids and sphinx to believe.

Pyramids are the symbol that shows how powerful ancient Egypt was, as it reached its zenith in this era. The Tufts University Egyptologist Peter Der Manuelian mentioned: “In these decorated tombs you have wonderful scenes of every aspect of life in ancient Egypt—so it’s not just about how Egyptians died but how they lived.”
We’ll go on a tour to discover more about one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, still remains till now, The iconic Pyramids of Giza.
Visit Giza pyramids and sphinx
Giza pyramid complex is located about 8 miles southwest of central Cairo, 5 miles west of the Nile river.
Many tourists who visit Egypt, added the pyramids tour and sphinx tour on the top of their bucket list.
Usually, they start the tour by exploring the greatest landmark in the site; the great pyramid of Khufu. It is the largest, tallest and the first pyramid to be built in the fourth dynasty, which is known to be the Golden Age of Ancient Egypt.
The pyramid was originally thought to be 480.6 feet tall, though now it stands 455.4 feet tall due to the absence of the pyramidion.
By visiting the Great Giza Pyramid, you will see the huge tomb that was built for Pharaoh Khufu, he was mentioned in Greek history as Cheops. He built it as he had a strong belief in the afterlife. The persevering of this building till now is a great proof of its majestic engineering.

It’s a distinctive spot for people who would like to witness and live the life of ancient Egyptians.
Move to the second largest pyramid of the Giza pyramid complex. It was built for the Pharaoh Khafre, the son of Khufu.
Although this pyramid is smaller than the great pyramid of Khufu, it’s no less majestic.
Jump to the smallest pyramid of them all, which was built for the Pharaoh Menkaure. It’s thought that no pyramids were built after Menkaure at this age.
Don’t forget to take a photo of the pyramids panorama.
You can ask a private guide to take you inside the great pyramid for about 300 L.E, but if you are claustrophobic don’t risk going in.
However, there is no guarantee you’d like it, as all the mummies have been transferred to the Egyptian museum. The tombs in the Valley temple are quite more interesting than the pyramids’ ones.
The Great Sphinx
You can’t visit the pyramids and miss seeing the Sphinx. The Sphinx had the head of a human and the body of a lion. The reason for building it that way was to scare the enemies, to show them how authoritative and powerful the king is, it was considered a sort of spiritual guardian.

So, how much does it cost to visit the Giza pyramids?
The tourist ticket to enter the Giza complex costs 120 L.E, with a special price of 60 L.E for students.
It’s open from 7 a.m to 5 p.m, no tickets are issued after 4 p.m.
More Pyramids
There are other pyramids and monuments in Giza other than the Giza Necropolis, we might haven’t heard of.
The most famous one of them is the Pyramid of Djoser or Step Pyramid at Sakkara. To the northeast, you can find the Pyramid of Userkaf, the founder of the fifth dynasty.
You may need a whole day just to explore the main pyramids at Giza complex. Still, spending time there is worth it.
